HP ElitePad 900 Tablet Review

HP Elite Pad 900 is a Windows 8 tablet version that is mostly concerned to the business areas. As it is a Windows 8 device we found that it is equipped with Intel processor that is an ATOM processor rather than the traditional processor.

With its new design and high end specs, could this tablet survive in the tech world among its rivals from Android and Apple iOS? Let us see for what extent HP has made its device to be one of the best ones.

Body Design :

The Elite Pad has a premium look with the aluminum finishing on the rear part that almost covers the front bezel as well. This is a stylish sleek crafted tablet that has a body of 10.24 inches width, 6.98 inches height and 0.36 inches thickness. This is a lighter tablet compared to most of the contemporary rivals that weighs only 1.4 pounds.

The rear part is rich with aluminum body, top and bottom wrapped with black plastic and a group of buttons and connectors. The left side of the rear part consists of a volume rocker and above it at a corner we find a rear camera lens, the right side is outfitted with micro SD and micro-SIM slot that may be a little ticking thing.

The rounded edge design may not be a unique design but it seems to be beautiful. The top part of the tablet is filled with a power button on left edge followed by display rotation lock and a head phone jack. The front part is totally covered by the black clear screen above placed with a web cam. The bottom part consists of the speakers grilles on both sides of the dock present in the middle. On the whole it has good design that looks pretty and even stylish.

Display :

This comes up with a 10.1 inches LED multi touch screen with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels. The pixel density is 150 ppi which is very low but it is fine to have a sharp display with utmost clarity. The external protection given to the screen with the presence of Gorilla glass 2 covering protects it from scratches. The display suffers in the presence of the sunlight that makes it no good in the clarity. The touch system is very responsive and they are quick when using the touch system in work.

Software and Hardware Features :

As we already said it is boasted with Windows 8 Pro OS, in the tablet world Windows has to be enhanced to compete with its rivals. The apps that are included make this one a worthy device for the person who purchases it. Along with the basic apps for calendar, clock etc. we find many apps like Skype, You cam, Media Suite, MS office, HP Pagelift to straighten the documents, Amazon Kindle, HP ePrint, Skitch touch and Evernote touch. The customizations offered for the device security and maintenance would be lively to use the software.

The hardware configuration include 1.8 GHz Intel dual-core ATOM processor and supported by 2 GB RAM. The internal memory can be opted between 32 GB and 64 GB data storage along with the micro card slot memory. This is integrated with Intel Graphics Media Accelerator GPU graphics card that is good for playing and viewing Windows games and apps but not the HD games or videos.

Camera :

For the tablet with 8 MP rear camera would be an asset, but we doubt how many of the users really like to take snaps with a big boy. Anyways on the way to the rear camera it is good in clarity and in resolution. The shots are very clear and the camera is powered with LED flash that makes the world even brighter. There are options on the screen to set the camera features and photo features. The You cam app on the screen is for choosing the camera when you like to have some shots.

The 2 MP web cam would be nice to see and use for the video calling and some video recording. The video capture is done at a HD quality that is 1080 pixels that would be nice for the recording purpose.

Battery life :

The 2-cell 24 WHr polymer battery is equipped to give us a long battery backup. On an average the battery is good for 7 hours and by decreasing the work on the battery draining tasks it would last for more than 10 hours. This is good news for the heavy users that the battery lasts for a longer time. Another good news is the extra add-on of the cover would increase the battery life almost about 20 hours.

Accessories :

The accessories from HP would be one of the interesting things at the same time expensive things to be purchased. For those who need a full Windows Tablet experience, we recommend them to purchase the accessories to fulfill their desire with a good amount of money. The accessories consist of three things they are:

Expansion jacket :

This jacket in the name itself says it expands the functionality of the device. This consists of two USB ports, SD card reader, HDMI port and an extra battery cover for increasing the battery life of the device.

Productivity jacket :

This is mostly concerned to use the device as a laptop rather than a tablet which appears as a dock with many ports and connectors. This comes up with two USB ports, SD card reader and a chiclet keyboard to use this as a perfect laptop. This also features a charger port, in case the tablet needs to be charged this makes it easy to do that.

The two jackets on the whole makes up the device more usable and together they cost about 7000 rupees.

Desktop Dock :

The desktop dock is powered with four USB ports, a HDMI port, a VGA port, the ETHERNET connector for the internet, a lock button and a power supply for the dock itself. The power supply is a mandatory for the usage of the dock for which we have no remedy. This costs about 9,999 rupees app. for those who chose to use it.

Call off :

The HP ELITEPAD 900 is one of the best Windows Tablets specifically for the business issues. This is not that likely to be used for the normal users due to the lack of high resolution, High Graphics card and high price tag of 43,500 rupees app.
